I don't know how many tenants have their own wifi connections, but this is an excellent program.

ATTENDANCE IS PAY WHAT YOU WISH
Because we believe a space for community, creativity, and connection is a basic human need for all of us, NYWC's writing programs are always free to participants. If you would like to make a contribution to NYWC by donating towards this workshop, and further support our creative writing workshops, publications, workshop leaders, and virtual platforming, please feel free to pay the full price of the reservation; however, if you feel you are currently not in a position to pay that price, please use code HALF to get the ticket price half-off, or the code FREE to reserve for free.
 what
Looking for community, creativity, and time to center yourself during this time of social distancing? Join NY Writers Coalition's free virtual creative writing workshops! No writing experience is necessary, and writers of all levels of experience are welcome. Our work amplifies the voices of historically unheard and under-resourced individuals in our society, and so we welcome people of all backgrounds.

 how

In each workshop, participants will write a piece in response to optional prompts provided by one of our experienced and trained workshop leaders. You can use this time to journal, make a to-do list, write a letter, create a poem, story, essay, play, or rant—anything that pops out at you! After the writing time has elapsed, participants have the option—although they are not required—to share their just-written pieces. Some workshops will make time for supportive, positive feedback, while others will only consist of writing and sharing what has been written. At this time, no outside material (e.g. work written outside the workshop) is allowed.

NYWC's workshops are based on the Amherst Writers and Artists workshop method developed by Pat Schneider and are led by an experienced, trained workshop leader.

 where

The workshops will be conducted via Zoom. You don't need an account to join; you will be provided a direct link. However, you will be prompted to download the Zoom app on either your phone, tablet, or computer.

 when

At the moment we will be announcing new workshops daily, or a few days in advance. You will receive an email once a new workshop(s) is announced, with an Eventbrite link to RSVP—so if one workshop is full, please be on the lookout for future emails! Due to demand, please only sign up if you know you can make it. If a workshop is full, you're welcome to join the waitlist on Eventbrite for that workshop.
